Dust storm

Twitter has been abuzz for a couple of days with reports of the giant sand and dust storm rising over Iran. Apparently it provides cover for graffiti painters, who are participating in the protests by painting green signs all over the city of Tehran.
I have previously reported about Green Ninjas, an informal team of graffiti painters in Iran who reports about their creative activism on Twitter.

This just came in today, verifying various reports that activists are taking advantage of the dust storm:

The green Ninja was on the streets last night. Ahmadinejad posters paintet with green V.

There's an interesting and very appropriate to the timing of the natural event. Just as the leading Iranian clerics in the holy city of Qom, under the leadership of Rafsanjani, steps in to defend Mousavi and his protesting opposition - nature seems to intervene against the oppressive government in Iran.

In previous speeches Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has compared protesters to "dirt and dust", and he has cited the old proverb:

"Those who sow wind shall reap a storm"

Now the Iranian regime is struck by international sanctions, internal protests, a large 3 day strike and condemnation from Islamic scholars - and on top of it a dust storm that provides cover for strikers, protesters and activists alike.

Even for an agnostic it is tempting to declare an Allahu Akhbar...
